National Banana transport figures for week 11 are on their way! Weather patterns in the major growing regions were as follows: Temperatures in the far north have seen early A.M. temperatures fall within a range of 16.2 - 23.6C across all major growing regions; and day time temperatures still ranging 24.9 - 34.7C. Heavy rainfalls were again experienced in North Qld banana growing regions this week with the following recorded: Mareeba receiving 72.8mm for the week; and Innisfail receiving a massive total of a 514.2mm!!! With the Townsville region also receiving another deluge the Bruce Highway has again been closed and transport has had to head inland and then south adding an additional day to deliveries of our produce.
Quality is somewhat varied both in terms of fruit colour and degree of skin marking. The previous week’s supply chain issues (thanks to Cyclone Alfred) have been resolved and we now have mostly full shelves of produce!! To note is still an increase in the amount of bruised fruit on shelves this week.
Retail ticket pricing in Queensland for cavendish bananas were as follows: Aldi’s banana ticket price at $4.49/kg; Woolies offered fruit at a ticket price of $4.50/kg; and Coles were offering fruit at a huge range from $4.50/kg in the stores visited.

🥑SUPPLY UPDATE
In a nutshell the national production figures for last week were as follows:
· Week 11, 2025 - The industry experienced a 16.38% decrease in production on the previous week’s harvest with a total of 430,878 tray equivalents harvested and transported (approx 80,000 less tray equivalents) on Week 10, 2025 production. Rain in North Queensland continues to fall with heavier falls again affecting the region and making harvest difficult. Townsville has also experienced another deluge which is resulted in localised flooding with the Bruce Highway again cut - our transporters are seeking out the inland route before heading south which adds an extra day to the trip south.
Production across the country saw NQ still confidently leading in production - accounting for 86.30% of the total volume, followed by Central Queensland accounting for 13.41%, then WA/NT for 0.30% of the total production for the week.
· It is forecast that a total of some 464,000 tray equivalents will be dispatched this week (Week 12) nationally, with the majority of these being Shepard!! Production for the next three week period thereafter, is expected to fall within the range of 389K-513K tray equivalents per week.
In terms of Avocado retailing in the major supermarkets in Qld this week we saw relatively stable shelf prices as follows - Aldi’s Hass this week shelf tickets on special at $2.29each; Coles Qld stores visited had Hass avos at $2.50ea, and Woolworths Qld with Shepard at $2.50ea.
