BANANA OVERVIEW
🍌SUPPLY UPDATE
National Banana transport figures for week 10 were 447,177 cartons which was just shy of 5% less (22,000 cartons) than the previous week. Weather patterns in the major growing regions were as follows: Temperatures in the far north have seen early A.M. temperatures fall within a range of 20.3 - 24.5 C across all major growing regions; and day time temperatures still ranging 22.3 - 33.9 C. Rainfall in North Qld banana growing regions this week was light as follows: Mareeba receiving 19.2mm for the week; and Innisfail receiving a total of a 31mm; combine this rather dry weather with the heat and summer is not over, at least in the north.
Quality is somewhat varied both in terms of fruit colour and degree of skin marking. Visits to stores in the SE corner of Queensland this week highlighted some of the supply chain issues that have arisen during and as a result of Cyclone Alfred (affectionately known as Alfie) with a number of stores found with full colour fruit on shelves and in cartons, to stores with a higher prevalence of tinge green fruit and others that had minimal supply. Also noted an increase in the amount of bruised fruit on shelves this week. Stores continued to struggle this week to keep up with customer demand for many products.
Retail ticket pricing in Queensland for cavendish bananas were as follows: Aldi’s banana ticket price at $4.49/kg; Woolies offered fruit at a ticket price of $4.50-4.90/kg; and Coles were offering fruit at a huge range from 90c/kg (full colour fruit) to $4.50/kg in the stores visited.

AVOCADO OVERVIEW
🥑SUPPLY UPDATE
In a nutshell the national production figures for last week were as follows:
· Week 10, 2025 - The industry experienced a 12.31% increase in production on the previous week’s harvest with a total of 515,320 tray equivalents harvested and transported (approx 60,000 more tray equivalents) on Week 9, 2025 production.
Production across the country saw NQ still confidently leading production - accounting for 70.47% of the total volume, followed by Central Queensland accounting for 22.90%, then WA/NT for 5.46% and lastly Central NSW with 1.16% of the total production for the week.
· It is forecast that a total of some 465,000 tray equivalents will be dispatched this week (Week 11) nationally, with the majority of these being Shepard!! Production for the next three week period thereafter, is expected to fall within the range of 440K-531K tray equivalents per week.
In terms of Avocado retailing in the major supermarkets in Qld this week we saw relatively stable shelf prices as follows - Aldi’s Hass this week shelf tickets at $2.49-2.99 each; Coles Qld stores visited had Hass avos at $2.50ea, and Woolworths Qld with Shepard at $2.90ea. SE Qld store trade has again been busy as people seek to restock home supplies after Cyclone Alfred - many have been without power and as power is restored they are keen to shop and refill both the fridge and pantry in preparation for return to work, school etc.
