AVOCADO OVERVIEW

🥑SUPPLY UPDATE

In a nutshell the national production figures for last week were as follows

·       Week 14, 2025 - The industry experienced an overall 11.29% decrease in production on the previous week’s harvest with this weeks total of 417,767 tray equivalents harvested and transported (approx 53,000 less tray equivalents) on Week 13, 2025 production.

Production across the country saw NQ still confidently leading in production - accounting for 90.96% of the total volume, followed by Central Queensland accounting for 8.85%, then Central NSW for just 0.20% of the total production for the week. Central market pricing on Shepards has remained steady in comparison to last week with premium trays fetching $28-$34; class one trays $20-$26 and bulks $20-$40, as the arrival of hass starts to ramp up from next week Shepard values are likely to reduce somewhat.

·      It is forecast that a total of some 466,000 tray equivalents will be dispatched this week (Week 15) nationally, with the majority of these being Shepard!! Production for the next three week period thereafter, is expected to fall within the range of 421K-498K tray equivalents per week. In this next three week period there will be a gradual industry transition from Shepard as main production to Hass, with the splits for the next three week forecast to look something like:

Week 16 Shepards 250,000 trays vs Hass 220,000 trays

Week 17 Shepards 100,000 trays vs Hass 300,000 trays

Week 18 Shepards 60,000 trays vs Hass 368,000 trays

In terms of Avocado retailing in the major supermarkets in Qld this week we saw some great offers for customers with pricing as follows - Aldi’s Hass this week shelf tickets on special at $1.99each;  Coles Qld stores visited had Shepard and Autumn Hass avos on a multibuy price at 2 for $4.00ea, and Woolworths Qld with Shepard at $2.00ea.
