AVOCADO OVERVIEW
SUPPLY UPDATE
In a nutshell the national production figures for last week were as follows:
· Week 23, 2023 - The industry saw a 15.04% decrease on the previous week’s harvest with a total of 341,107 trays harvested and transported ( approx. 60,000 less) on Week 22, 2023 production. Hass variety supplying 306,849 trays with an additional 34,258 trays of assorted other varieties also in this week’s reported figures, North Qld maintains the lead in overall production at 56.98% of the total volume; Central Qld contributing 38.88% of the volume followed by a combined effort of Central NSW and Tristate contributing the remaining 4.14% (Hass). The central markets are still in a state of recovery post the deluge of fruit that hit the market in mid-May, and whilst there has been a slight move upward indicating clearance of some of the volume there is still quite a divide between what is being paid for fruit of varying age and quality.
· It is forecast that a total of 338K trays will be despatched this week nationally. Hass harvest figures forecast for the next two to three weeks will range between 273K and 303K per week, whilst total avocado production across this same period is expected to hit around 280K to 340K per week (including other varieties). The current four week average dispatch figure now sits at 382,178 trays.
